Relief Services 26th Jan' 01 is the day that punctuated the history of mankind with a devastating earthquake. It was on the very next day ie on 27th Jan, 100 volunteers of YDS with 7 truck load of primary requirements reached at 'ANJAR' a town that was completely demolished and needed immediate attention. Extensive and ongoing services including relief work, free distribution of warm and routine clothing, of food and mobile tents was undertaken. This benovalent act was duly acknowledged not only by the collector of 'ANJAR' but also by the Govt. Of Gujarat. Six months of perpetual relief work ended with a successful physiotherapy clinic healing thousands of injured, distributing about 350 truck load of different accessories collected by YDS from india and abroad. More importantly YDS came up with a project of 'VATSALYADHAM' wherin 200 orphan boys from the earthquake affected area were adopted with an absolute responsibility of providing them with food, clothing, shelter, guidance, education and above all unquestioning love for the rest of their life.

Tea centre was open round the clock and tea was served to the needy and affected population to provide relief from severe cold wave. Daily 50,000 cups of tea were served.

Supply of Fresh Vegetables Potatoes, cabbages, carrots, pumpkins, brinjals and fresh leafy vegetables like spinach were distributed round the clock at our camp. Daily 10 tonnes of vegetables were being distributed.

Food Packets On the day of earthquake the saints & volunteers of YDS, Haridham, Sokhada and Sarvodaya Kelavani Samaj, Rajkot prepared and distributed 50,000 food packets of nutritious food to the needy in the affected villages. Over and above this daily food packets were distributed from Baroda, Amdavad, Surat, Rajkot & the Anjar camp and nearly 3,00,000 packets had been distributed.

Milk Supply Milk was being distributed from this camp in several affected villages to nourish children and the adults. Daily 5,000 litres of milk was being distributed.

Daily Meal & Water Pure water, nutritious food and pure air are basic necessity of human being. To fulfill the need of pure water. 3,00,000 pouches and 50,000 bottles of natural mineral water had been distributed. We provided hygienic cooked food prepared by saints and expert cooks at our camp from very next day of quake occurrence. At our Anjar camp thousands of quake victims and volunteers of various organizations who came from different parts of the country to serve were the beneficiaries.

Grain Distribution With the help of more then 20 saints and 500 volunteers grains like rice, millet, hotchpotch, wheat flour, gram dal and other items had been distributed to the affected people in some 70 villages.

Medical Aid A team of 11 doctors with ambulance worked round the clock in Anjar camp and in interior villages of Kutch treating the injured and sick. Everyday, approximately 700 patients were being treated at OPD section of medical aid camp at Anjar.

Clothing: Blankets Clothes, Blankets and mattresses had been distributed to the needy in the quake-affected villages. More then 5,000 blankets and 8,000 mattresses were being distributed everyday from our camp. Survey; Distribution On 26th January 2001, the Black Friday of January, six saints rushed to Kutch and its interior villages to make spot survey of the disaster and the needs of the affected people. Next day saints and volunteers distributed the needy items to affected in the surveyed areas. Saints; Volunteers In the Anjar camp more than 500 volunteers along with 20 saints were working round the clock to help the earthquake victims and 50 saints with over 500 volunteers were working for the earthquake relief at YDS Haridham - Sokhada and SKS Rajkot.

The honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Keshubhai Patel and the honorable Union Agricultural Minister, Nitishkumarji visited Anjar and held meeting with our Pujya Tyagvallabh swami where they were briefed about our activities at this relief camp and our commitment to help the affected people to overcome from the trauma of this calamity. Both the dignitaries were highly impressed by these efforts. The MP of Panchmahal - Ramsinh Rathawa also visited our camp at Anjar. He was aware of our activities and appraised the sincere work put forth by our team at the relief camp. The State Cabinet Minister Sureshbhai Mehta and the MP of Anand Dipakbhai Sathi also visited our relief camp at Anjar and admired our efforts to help our needy brethren. National Leader of Bajrang Dal Hareshbhai Bhatt also visited our camp at Anjar and was overwhelmed by the untiring efforts of the saints and volunteers performing relief work. He met P. Tyagvallabhswami and expressed his appreciation of our activities. The great Ramayana orator, H.H. Moraribapu also visited our camp at Anjar and blessed the volunteers performing services at the relief camp. In addition to these visitors, Chairman of implementation committee of Gujarat Government, Vijaybhai Rupani and Leading Advocate Abhaybhai Bhardwaj, Leaders of Vishva Hindu Parishad & RSS and V. K. Gandhi of Reliance Industries also visited our Anjar camp. They appreciated our relief activities.
